AUSTIN – Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman applauded the diverse coalition of stakeholders, including the Texas Oil and Gas Association and the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, who worked together to prevent the listing of the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard as a threatened or endangered species.  As Texas’ top energy official, Smitherman hasworked tirelessly against efforts to list this lizard as endangered, and has warned the Obama Administration against listing it as threatened.

We had a great time at the Texas GOP Convention! I have a few things I wanted to say after the weekend.

  • We handed out nearly 14,000 stickers and flyers to attendees. This was a great way for the campaign to build our grassroots efforts with GOP activists.
  • I want to thank everyone for the warm reception. It was great to meet with so many people and gain new supporters in the process.
  • I’d also like to thank Chairman Munisteri for putting together a great convention. I think everyone went away feeling energized about 2012 and the difference we can make together as Republicans.

I have just a few thoughts on last night’s win for Gov. Walker of Wisconsin. 

First, I want to congratulate him. I also want to thank the people of Wisconsin who really did the right thing in re-electing Gov. Walker. 

Liberals tried their hardest to defeat Gov. Walker, but their best wasn’t good enough.

It has been an honor to meet so many great Texans as I’ve campaigned across our great state for the last nine months.
