Today we celebrate our independence and we honor those who have fought and died for that independence since 1776. Liberty isn’t free. It costs a great deal.
Our Founding Fathers risked everything – their prosperity, their comfort, their safety – for the sake of this country. They did not know if they would win against England or if this country would be a success, but they moved forward with what they knew was right.
Today, I think about the many ways in which government grown while liberty has not. What would our nation be like if we had leaders who were as courageous as our Founding Fathers?
I want to take that thought with me through every decision I make as Railroad Commissioner. Hope it’s food for thought to you today as well.
